1. Our Commitment
Van-Go Clearance Ltd is a licensed waste broker (CBDU652706). We are committed to protecting the environment, preventing pollution and continually improving environmental performance. We recognise waste management has significant environmental impact and we have a duty to minimise it.
2. Waste Hierarchy
We operate in accordance with the Waste Hierarchy as required by Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011:
- a) Prevention — Advise customers on waste reduction, accurate volume estimates to avoid over-ordering skips.
- b) Reuse — Prioritise reuse of furniture, appliances, materials where possible via reuse networks and charities.
- c) Recycling — Use Operators and facilities with high recycling rates. Aim for >85% diversion from landfill for general waste and >95% for construction waste.
- d) Recovery — Use energy-from-waste for residual where recycling not possible.
- e) Disposal — Landfill as last resort only.
3. Legal Compliance
We comply with Environmental Protection Act 1990, Waste Duty of Care Code of Practice, Hazardous Waste Regulations, Environmental Permitting Regulations and all applicable waste legislation. We only use carriers registered on Environment Agency public register and permitted facilities.
4. Carbon & Transport
- a) Allocate local Operators to reduce mileage where possible.
- b) Encourage Operators to maintain Euro 6 / low emission vehicles.
- c) Plan efficient routing and avoid empty running.
- d) Promote Wait & Load and consolidated loads to reduce vehicle movements.
5. Pollution Prevention
Operators must not fly-tip. All Waste must be taken to licensed facilities with Waste Transfer Notes (WTN) retained 6 years. WTN will be emailed to customers. We will report any suspected fly-tipping to Environment Agency.
6. Hazardous & Restricted Waste
We ensure hazardous, WEEE, POPs (Persistent Organic Pollutants — e.g. sofas, mattresses), plasterboard, batteries are separated and treated at appropriately permitted facilities per guidance.
7. Objectives & KPIs
- a) 100% of Waste to licensed facilities.
- b) 0 fly-tipping incidents by our Operators.
- c) >85% recycling rate target for mixed loads.
- d) 100% WTN issued and retained.
- e) Annual review of Operator environmental performance.
8. Training & Communication
All staff responsible for booking Operators are trained on Waste Duty of Care and Waste Hierarchy. Environmental requirements communicated to Operators in Code of Conduct.
9. Review
Policy reviewed annually. Next review Sept 2027.
